What we must do next.

These are just a few ways in which you can help fight against fracking in the UK

1. Switch your energy to renewables. Ecotricity and Good Energy both supply renewable electricity and gas. If you haven’t researched renewable energy recently the good news is that it now costs exactly the same as non-renewable energy.

2. Speak to your MP at one of their upcoming surgeries:

Andrew Jones MP holds surgeries on the first Friday and saturday of the month. Book an appointment to see him by phoning 01423 529614 or emailing andrew.jones.mp@parliament.uk

Julian Smith MP‘s surgery dates as follows:

Friday 13 January – Skipton

Friday 27 January – Ingleton

Friday 27 January – Settle

Friday 10 February – Pateley Bridge

Friday 10 February – Masham

Friday 24 February – Grassington

Friday 24 February – Cowling

To book an appointment phone 01756 795898 or email julian.smith.mp@parliament.uk.

3. Change your bank and tell them why!
A number of high street banks are investing heavily in fossil fuels. Barclays in particular owns a stake in Third Energy the company granted permission by North yorkshire County Council to begn fracking in the UK. To find out more about which banks to avoid visit: http://moveyourmoney.org.uk/campaigns/divest. Remember before you close your account tell as many people as possible at the bank why you are doing it.
